A new dad’s perspective

It’s been a few weeks since our son was born. I, who was so reluctant, am totally in love with this newest member of our family. Sure, there are still moments of parental insecurity, some related to age, some the norm for any parent. But all in all, I fell really good about being a dad again.

Lisa and baby are doing great. We thought for a few days that he might be colicky, but I think we just weren’t reading all his cues that well yet. Lisa says it’s more than that - he cries when he has to poop and sometimes he spits up a bunch. Both are related to gas. Ha! Poop talk! Yep, I’m a dad again.

Anyway, we’re fortunate that we’re both at home, at least for six months or so. Then we’ll see if we can swing it so that Lisa only works part-time; since I work from home now, that would allow us to forgo outside the home child care. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Right now, we just want to focus on getting through the first few months.

  • Congrats on your beautiful baby boy! My husband is 20 yrs out from his vasectomy and we are planning to have his VR in December. Thank you for putting yourself and your story out there for others. Your site has informed and enlightened us. Again, thank you!

  • We had our first vas-reversal baby, a beautiful boy! Born October 18, 2007 a week and a half early! 10# 6 oz. 20.5 inches! We had a bigger boy before him! Anyways, I wanted to let you guys know what an encouragement you have been to me on our reversal journey… We had it done on April 7, 2006… Had 2 miscarriages and then became pregnant again in February 2007… We are praising the Lord at this miracle! We have 5 children now! We are so blessed.

Thank you for sharing your journey with us. I pray mom and baby and daddy are well at your place… if you want to see pictures, please private email me and I will send you a blog invite. Thanks
Homemakerang and our family of 7!

  • I found your website through Google and wanted to say what a great job you have done. Congratulations on the birth of your son! After ten years of marriage and 5 1/2 years post-vasectomy, my husband had a VR done. After extensive research we found a experienced microsurgeon in Atlanta, GA. His VR was done on December 14, 2006. His follow up analysis in August showed great results. I finally became pregnant this past September and I miscarried on October 5th at 6 weeks. We have two daughters who are 6 and 8 years old. This was my first experience with miscarriage. However, my OB/GYN feels as if it was a random event. We are going to continue trying though! Atleast I was able to get pregnant. My husband is scheduled for another semen analysis the first of December and his doctor is recommending DNA testing. Time will tell………

hello i have a question my fiance had a vasectomy about 12 or 13 yrs ago, but the thing is that around the first of this month i was supposed to start my monthly cycle and today is the 12th of the month and i still havent gotten my period, i have been having cramps down around my ovaries and rihgt above my pelvic bone for probly the last 2 wks, and usually when i get menstral cramps they are more up towards my stomach and my lower back starts to hurt the day before also for the past month or so especially when i first wake up in the morning my breasts are extremely sore it even hurts for me to roll over in bed and whenever i get up i have to hold them while i am moveing or walking that way they wont move because the pain is unreal but after i am up for a while they start to ease up and they feel much better when i put my bra on! also ive been having frequent headaches the past 3 to 4 days, constipation a couple of times in the past 2 wks and today i have felt very tired for no reason and i dont usually do this but i went to bed around 11:30 that night and i didnt wake up until 12:44 the next afternoon and didnt want to get up then i just cuoldnt get motivated! also i have been urinateing alot more than usual and seems like i stay hungry i just cant get enough to eat and i have the worst craveing for orange juice an thats weird cause before i probably didnt drink maybe a half gallon a year and for the past 6 days i have probably drunk a gallon and a half! is there any way or chance that i could be pregnent? my fiance is not buying it he swears that i have messed around on him and honestly i havent because i just moved to his state from ky and i dont know anyone up here! please let me know that way i can show him the proof when you answer me cause he said if i was i had some major explaining to do, please help me! thanks so much

It certainly sounds like you could be pregnant, but there are other things that could be causing your symptoms as well. Have you taken a pregnancy test? I’d start there, then call a doctor. Lots of women get pregnant after a vasectomy, Rich had his vasectomy done twice because the first time, it just didn’t work. It only takes one little sperm, so even after vasectomy, occasionally, one little guy can get through. If your guy doesn’t trust you, then you’ve got issues in your relationship that need to get talked about. Good luck!
