Bloody ejaculate
I’ve hesitated in writing this post, but it seems like something anyone undergoing this surgery should know about. So pardon the graphic nature — it’s best if you (and your partner) are not surprised by these things!
Quoting from the post-vasectomy reversal care instructions I received:
“In the first few weeks after surgery you may notice small blood clots in your semen; the semen may even have a brown color. This is normal and it will go away.”
Mine did have a brown color (like the color of dried blood, even though it wasn’t dry), and it went away after the first few ejaculations. The only other interesting thing I might add is that one night, um, things flew farther than they ever have before. That could have come in handy once we were trying to conceive, but it seemed to have been a one-night occurrence.
