Miscarriage risk and father’s age
What a coincidence. Right after our miscarriage, I see a news story that the risk of miscarriage increases with the father’s age. The article also stated that older fathers are more likely to have childen with birth defects. This was following a similar story stating that older fathers are more likely to have kids with autism.
I hate articles like this. They make me doubt the wisdom of trying to have a child and feel like somehow the miscarriage was our fault. It frustrates me that you have to get all the way to the bottom of the article before they say that it’s only a slight increase in risk, that most older fathers have perfectly healthy, normal kids.
From now on, I plan to ignore the negative press about older fathers. We can, and will, have a healthy baby.
