Second Semen Analysis
I just got the results of my second fertility test, and while they aren't good, they are better than the first post-vasectomy reversal semen analysis. I'm not as freaked as before either, after learning that it isn't unusual for counts to start out low, and only begin increasing some months after the surgery. It definitely seems to be harder on Lisa though. The count this time was 3,800/ml; the normal range listed on my test results was 40-300 million/ml! Motility was a dismal 2%, versus the desired 60-100%. I'm not sure if I'll wait one month or two before the next test, but I'll report the results here whenever I do. Here are some references on fertility tests that help explain the terminology and numbers:
- WebMD's semen analysis overview.
- Australia's Monash IVF on the interpretation of semen analysis.
