Sperm harvesting during vasectomy reversal not cost effective
Jump to Comments
Researchers at John Hopkins have determined that sperm harvesting and cryoperservation during vasectomy reversal is not cost effective. Costs were compared to sperm harvesting at the time of IVF, where vasectomy reversal was unsuccessful. Median costs were as follows:
- Sperm harvesting and cryopreservation at vasovasostomy – $1765
- Sperm harvesting and cryopreservation at vasoepididymostomy – $1209
- Sperm harvesting (percutaneous or testicular sperm aspiration) for patients with failed vasectomy reversal – $ 725
