The cost of vasectomy reversal
This is a common question — how much does a vasectomy reversal cost? According to information sent me by my doctor, the cost is $6600. My wife, who did the research in selecting a surgeon, tells me that his rates are actually lower than many. And the quoted price doesn’t include extras that you may want, like extracting and freezing sperm for in vitro fertilization, in case the vasectomy reversal doesn’t work.
Furthermore, insurance doesn’t usually cover this sort of elective surgery. Fortunately, my employer offers a flexible spending account (FSA) that allows me to reduce the cost by setting aside pre-tax funds for the procedure. Employers decide how much you can set aside each year in your FSA.

My partner’s reversal was covered by his NASE insurance (National Association of the Self Employed) so I think he only had to pay something like $300-$700 which was amazing when you think of it. That was back in 1998 though. Something that might be of interest to others though.

Our vr cost $4200. Our surgeon was one of the least expensive around (Dr. Finnerty in Tacoma WA).
